Smart Hose is an industry leading safety shut-off system revolutionized to proactively prevent catastrophic events resulting from hose failure. This completely passive system requires no human intervention and has the ability to shut off any flow of fluids within milliseconds preventing product loss, environmental impact facility damage and, most importantly, injury.
Smart Hose works by integrating a tightly wound cable within the hose bore which is attached to a specialized coupling at each end. This cable applies pressure against the coupling allowing it to open. In the event the hose ruptures the cable is released and the couplings close instantly stopping the flow of fluid into and out of the hose

OPW Safety Breakaway Coupling

Dry break couplers are designed with safety and the environment in mind, preventing product loss or spillage by integrating a locking valve system in which the coupler must be connected to its counter adaptor before the valve opens and any fluid can flow. Similarly, the coupler can only be disconnected once the valve is closed and fluid flow has stopped.
Breakaway fittings are another safety component designed for the prevention of accidental spillage of liquids. These are commonly used when loading or unloading tank trucks or railcars, especially with pressurized product. In the event of a unintended pull-away, this two component coupling system disconnect and closes valves located at both ends, this preventing spills and protecting equipment and personnel at the same time.
